Anna Chlumsky y Shemar Moore fueron los encargados de presentar las nominaciones a los Emmy Awards 2017, lo mejor de la industria televisiva estadounidense.
Hayma Washington, Director de La Academia de Artes y Ciencias de la Televisión, también acompañó a Anna Chlumsky estrella de la serie Veep y Shemar Moore, de la serie S.W.A.T., quienes destacaron que la creatividad y la excelencia de los nominados de este año para presentar historias y personajes, a través de las diferentes plataformas de entretenimiento.
Las series nominadas a través de diferentes categorías incluyen favoritos de la comedia y el drama como Modern Family, House of Cards, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt y Stranger Things, quienes compiten con nuevas propuestas como Westworld, This is Us, y Atlanta. Los nominados también incluyen shows de televisión abierta, cable y plataformas digitales como Better Call Saul, The Handmaid’s Tale, black-ish, Master of None, FEUD: Bette and Joan, Veep y The Crown.
Los programas con más nominaciones son Saturday Night Live y Westworld con 22, seguidos de Stranger Things y FEUD: Bette and Joan con 18 cada uno, y Veep con 17 nominaciones.
Las categorías de mejor actor y actriz de drama cuenta con grandes histriones como Viola Davis, Robin Wright, Keri Russell, Anthony Hopkins, Kevin Spacey, Evan Rachel Wood, Nicole Kidman y Liev Schrieber; mientras que en las categorías de mejor actor y actriz de comedia están presentes importantes figuras como Donald Glover, Zach Galifianakis, Aziz Ansari, William H. Macy, Jane Fonda, Allison Janey, Ellie Kemper, Lily Tomlin y Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
Reese Witherspoon y Robert de Niro recibieron su primera nominación al Emmy Awards. Entre los más nominados se encuentran Aziz Ansari, Alec Baldwin, Donald Glover, Ewan McGregor, Matthew Rhys y Liev Schreiber. John Lithgow, el cinco veces ganador de un Emmy, recibió su 12a nominación, mientras que la tres veces ganadora de un Emmy, Jessica Lange recibió otra nominación por su interpretación como Joan Crawford.

El anfitrión de los Emmy Awards 2017 es Stephen Colbert de The Late Show, uno de los presentadores y actores cómicos más reconocidos de la televisión estadounidense. Además de haber incursionado en cine y televisión, también es autor de 5 publicaciones.
Stephen Colbert fue nombrado como una de las 100 personas más influyentes de la revista TIME en 2006 y su larga trayectoria incluye 9 Premios Emmy, 2 Premios Grammy y 2 Premios Peabody.
